چکیده

Livestock production around the world is impacted by liver fluke (Fasciola spp.) infection resulting in serious economic losses to beef, dairy and sheep industries with significant of about $90 million per annum Australia. Triclabendazole (TCBZ) most effective anthelmintic treatment available control infections; however, widespread emergence TCBZ resistance livestock threatens control. Alternative measures lower exposure would help preserve usefulness current treatments. Environmental DNA (eDNA) based identification intermediate snail host water bodies a robust method assess risk on farms. In this study, we used multiplex quantitative PCR assay samples detect quantify eDNA Fasciola hepatica (F. hepatica) Austropeplea tomentosa (A. tomentosa), crucial for transmission South-east Water were collected from an irrigation channel period 7 months 2016 (February, March, May, September, October, November December) at farm located Maffra, Victoria, Using extraction method, qPCR allows independent but simultaneous detection released life stages snails using specific primers probe targeting ITS-2 region snail, respectively, minimal inhibition contaminants field samples. Liver Fluke Induces Cholangiocarcinoma

Liver fl uke infection caused by Opisthorchis viverrini, O. felineus, and Clonorchis sinensis is a major public health problem in East Asia and Eastern Europe. Currently, more than 600 million people are at risk of infection with these trematodes [1]. O. viverrini is endemic in Southeast Asian countries, including Thailand, Lao People’s Democratic Republic, Vietnam, and Cambodia [2], and C. sin...

Parasite Control: Liver Fluke

Liver fluke or Fasciola hepatica is a common parasite of livestock. A liver fluke infection causes ill health, as well as a reduction in growth rates and reproductive performance in affected livestock. Over recent years it has been acknowledged that the presence of liver fluke in the UK has increased and that the periods of risk for infections have become longer, as well as more difficult to pr...

Understanding genetic diversity of the liver fluke Fasciola hepatica.

Economical breeding is important to obtain maximum gain from the breeding in the animal sector. The economic loss has to be eliminated or should be minimized. The liver fluke, Fasciola hepatica, present mostly in sheep and dairy cattle affect the yield of animals and even cause their death. To eliminate or minimize the impact of these parasites on the animals, it is important to understand the ...

Diagnosis of liver fluke infection in cattle.

The Parasite Fasciola hepatica, the common liver fluke, is the most likely cause of liver fluke disease in domestic ruminants in the United States. The fluke life cycle requires a snail intermediate host to complete transmission to a new ruminant host. The parasite is most often found in Florida, along the Gulf Coast, in the Pacific Northwest, in portions of the Rocky Mountains, and Hawaii. Oth...
